To All NavyDads members, I wrote this several years ago and I have read it each year since. I wanted to share it with you this year. I am amazed at how much I have received each Christmas, I have pictures of my sister and her doll and me with my cast iron race car under a Christmas Tree not more than 3 foot tall, sitting on a coffee table, which was a great Christmas concering it was taken in the mid-50’s. The story below…

Thanks Calvin...Truly new to this...Mitchell just informed us Wed night that he has made this decision...If all goes according to plan he goes to basic in March
Thank you! I'm reading as much as I can now that I found this site and N4Ms. Appreciate the welcome. BTW, Zach leaves for GL this coming Wednesday, the 18th. He's excited!
Thank You Calvin. I will be checking out this site often to learn as much as I can.
You have a pretty scared family right now. Fox news said that a sailor died there and we are very worried. My daughter is leaving for Josh's graduation at 6 in the morning and is going as a very worried Mom. Grandma isn't doing so good either.
I appreciate your message and comments. My son is a member of the P3 community and is currently an instructor pilot with VP30 in Jacksonville. While I am new to your site I have a few years in now as a Proud Navy Dad! My Aaron went to school at NC State on an ROTC Scholarship and graduated in 2003 then reporting to Flight school as a young O1. Since then he is now an O3, Iraq war veteran from VP45, and finishing in a few months his tour in Jacksonville. I was searching for information on carriers (his next assignment) when I found your site. How I wish your site was around back then! Anyway I am very excited about NAVY DADS and looking forward to learning more about what our sons and daughters do in their service to our great country. I did find a page on your site with the carrier Aaron will be serving on!
Respectfully, James
Merry Christmas Calvin!
Thanks Calvin,
I was not aware of this community and have been a Navy Dad for 10 years since my son joined right out of high school. I don't know if you or the group ever would have use for my skills, but I do have a very good HD camera and editing studio for video production. If there is ever a project that you could use my help with, do not hesitate to contact me.
Merry Christmas everyone and may God bless and watch over all of you and our families.
Ric
Hi Calvin, I signed on as Rialto, but then I thought I would change it to part of my name to be more personal – so I am Elizabeth now. Thank you so much for the welcome! This is such a great community and resource for learning about the Navy and the military (I know almost nothing as I am just starting out!). Thank you for helping to build this site, I’m glad I get to be part of it.
Calvin,
Sorry I hadn't got back to you sooner. Been busy preparing for my son to come home for Christmas for the first time in 3 years due to being stationed in Japan. Let me know what I can do for your Rescue Swimmer project.
Calvin,
Thank you for the welcome. My son is on the USS Albuquerque (SSN-706) and is finishing up his first deployment (very soon we hope). It's a little nerve racking waiting to hear about his return. His wife will get the word from the Ohmbudsman. We're just hoping that he won't be working on Christmas, although he's the newbee on the boat and therefore expects that he may have to stand watches. We're just planning to go with the flow and if necessary bring Christmas to him when he's off duty. I'm glad to find the Navy Dads groups, and am especially glad to see that there are groups for those whose sailor is a Submariner, and a Nuke. We're immensely proud of him, but are starting to know the fellowship of other parents and loved ones of similar sailors. Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to reading the posts and joining in where helpful. ... K. Anderson
Actually, I ran by your profile pic, I really really like that! made my copy, haha
and yes, I'm from Navy moms, Im a member of the Navy Diver grp over there, what kind of info do you need, I can also direct to a mom, that has a son as a instructor etc. and the whole run down on what to expect, I have so much info now from her and besides my own research, and my son, waiting for his new lve date as we speak, he got his diver contract, worked his butt off mentally and physically to get him :) Hooyah!!!!
Thank you. It was our Dad who was in the Navy in WWII on an Aircraft Carrier, My daughter, son n law in the Army and my youngest brother was in the Air Force for 10 years and now has been in the Army. I guess you might say our family diversified:)
Bob
