Chief Petty Officer

well.....in 8 days my son will become a "Chief".

Where in the world has the time gone? It doesn't seem that long ago that he was heading to Boston to enlist, and leave for Boot Camp in Orlando, Florida - that was 18 yrs. ago.

When he walked into the room and I saw him in his uniform for the first time, I dissolved into tears, but heart was bursting with pride. (OHHH by the way/ this is Jeff's Mom, Jean/ not Art). He became a Seabee, and I had no idea what that meant, but soon learned… Continue

Art, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you have joined us. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force 5 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Jeff for his service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young man.
Thank you for your service to this great country as well.
I served in the Air Force from 1971 to 1975 as a weapons mechanic.

Jean, Welcome Aboard!

I'm so glad to have the Navy Moms on here to keep us men in line. My son is an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca. and my family and I couldn't be prouder of him. When he first enlisted I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. We have many moms on the site and benefit greatly from their point of views and we are willing to help the moms in any way we can. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Jeff for his service for me and thanks again for joining us.

Sincerely, EG

Welcome to NavyDads Jean! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Jean this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Jeff is doing! Best Regards- Paul
