Rich, Brads son Garret is with HS-14. If you go to Brads page you will see a photo of Garret and a Pilot ..hope that helps you. My Sailor daughter was evacuated a month ago from Atsugi but is still overseas. She works on Jets.

They should be doing fire fighting & damage control this week as well as the infamous OC chamber. Fortunately for Geoffrey, he's been through it before at the Law Enforcement Academy. He was part of a summer program and that was included. They had one young lady that volunteered to be tazed if she could pass on the OC. It didn't happen. :-) NO ONE got tazed.

Richard,

I didn't get a letter today but Geoffrey, said they had been working with weapons earlier in their time there as he was in charge of securing them and getting them handed over to the next division. I've given up on trying to figure out what they are doing because the PIR date we've been given is 7 weeks and 2 days from the time he got there. He has confirmed the PIR date and there have been no changes.

Hey Richard,

I MISSED THE CALL! I work grave yard shift and normally sleep with the ringer off. He called this afternoon during my 3 hours sleep, ( all I got today) and left a message. He sounded a little bummed. I wasn't expecting a call in the middle of the afternoon OR in the middle of the week. You can bet you a$% I'll be sleeping eith the ringer ON from now on. I'd MUCH rather talk to my boy than sleep, I don't care how tired I get at work.

Going to write him another letter tonight when things calm down. Hopefully Div 340 will get their poop in a group so they will have a few more priviledges. :-) Did Eric say anything about what the name of their "ship" is?

Hi Richard,

Glad to hear Eric is okay. I just mailed another letter off to Geoffrey, he prefers Geoff but dad can't seem to get into that mode. :-) Hopefully therr'll be a letter in the mail when I check later.

Hey Richard,

I haven't heard anything yet either with the exception of the form letter they wrote a short note on. I'm actually going to write him again tonight. Hopefully it'll jog his memory that he needs to let us know he's okay. :-)

Welcome to NavyDads.com Richard! I'm sure you'll find NavyDads as useful, educational and informative as I have. Please explore the site and make some new friends. Read the discussions and add your comments. Browse through the postings in the various groups or start a new one. I certainly have! If you have any comments, questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the direction to find out. I'm blessed to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) is stationed on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) just completed her enlistment on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Richard this is a great place to brag as well! So join in, get active, and be sure to let us know how Eric is doing! Please remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors and the fleet in mind. On the right side of every NavyDads page is an area we call About This Site. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link for some guidelines as to what we should and should not talk about in a public forum.

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your son is going through. In the Navy Bootcamp group is a discussion called A MUST READ for all New Navy Parents. Read through this post as it will do a lot to give you some understanding about what your sailor is learning and why. And be sure to check out the videos available in the Bootcamp Group as well.

As PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable. Best Regards- Paul

Welcome aboard to Navy Dads Richard! When my son first enlisted, I was a little scared and worried for him. Not coming from a military family at all, I had no idea what to expect. What I found out was that he had made the most mature decision of his life! I found lots of answers to my questions right here on NavyDads.com. I will brag a little here and tell you that I was the first dad outside of the creator’s family to join this site. After two years, E.G. and Paul asked me to become one of the co-administrators. I was honored. But this is not about me, it’s about you and your Sailor!

I have one sailor in the family - my son Stephen is an AWO2. (Air warfare systems operator) He is a Petty Officer 2nd Class and flies in the P-3 Orion sub hunter. Currently he is with VP-45 in Jacksonville, FL. This is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Eric is doing!

We do ask that you remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors in mind at all times. On the starboard side of every Navy Dads page is an area we call “About Us.” Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link and the NavyDads Guidelines link. Also check out the FAQs at the top of the pages, and also on the starboard side. There is lots of information there as well. Also be sure to check out the “Navy Dads Tutorial” in the FAQ section. It’s a short video that will help you to navigate around the site.

Also be sure to stop by the NavyDads official store- Navyoutfitters.com. The Navy Blue tee shirt with the NavyDads.com logo is my favorite! Again, welcome and we’ll see you around the fleet! GO NAVY! HOOYAH!

Best Regards- Jim

Richard, Welcome Aboard!

When my son first enlisted in the Navy I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to his future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads but found out I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and hope this site will benefit fathers that follow behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Eric for his service for me and for yours as well. Thanks again for joining us.

Sincerely, E.G.
