Shimmer, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you have joined us. I see that you have been busy jumping in and getting involved, I like that. Check out some of the other groups and some of the other discussions that are going on. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force 5 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Will for his service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young man.
Yes, I do believe you did mention that you are proud. Wait until PIR, talk about proud. It is too bad he is grad and go. You give him a big hug when you see him. We here at Navy Dads are also proud of Will and of you. We are here for you Shimmer. Let us know how you and Will are doing.

well surprise, surprise, surprise. I am a police officer at the Orlando Sanford airport. We live near Flea world. Sorry to hear about the drive. We have a flight from Sanford to Chicago/Rockford. You should drive here and see family then fly, don't you like how I make plans for other people? Just kidding, I am sorry that you have such a long drive. I used to like the drive up and down the coast before we lived here but anymore I am not so sure. Joe III will have A school in Pensacola, about 7.5 hour drive; guess for that I can suck it up. I dread that he could be anywhere after that, I always knew he would leave home but I thought he would be in the same town, or state or time zone or continent or hemisphere...
If I did not say, we are staying at the navy Lodge. If you did not know, there is a meet and greet on Thursday 06/04 for PIR
at Flanagan's sports bar. I think you can find it by going to my page then my events.

Sanford, what a small world that is where we are. My wife, Renee' has shared messages with Story's wife also. We will be staying at the Navy Lodge as will she. Will must have done well on his ASVAB's to go nuke, they tried to get Joe to but he wasn't crazy about the likelihood of being on a sub. We have had that experience in our family and the communication is more restricted that most. Joe is going CTR cryptology.

Sherri, Welcome Aboard! I'm so glad to have the Navy Moms on here to keep us men in line. I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. We have many moms on the site and benefit greatly from their point of views and we are willing to help the moms in any way we can. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Will for his service for me and thanks again for joining us.
Sincerely,EG

Welcome to NavyDads Sherri! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Sherri this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Will is doing!

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your son is going through. Thanks to one of our members we have two excellent videos that you can access from the Video area on the NavyDads.com main page: New Bootcamp 1 of 2 and New Bootcamp 2 of 2. These videos will answer many of your questions and concerns and will give you a better understanding of how the United States Navy transforms our children into sailors!

Be sure to spend some time in the Bootcamp group- there are many questions and answers available to help you understand what your sailor is going through. And as PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable. Best Regards- Paul
