I knew he had enlisted but the day of departure still seemed to sneak up on me.. My son Dale is a member of Cardinal Company and they all reported to Great Lakes on 8/7/08 aroound 2300. We finally got our first letter yesterday and he said bootcamp is kicking his butt. But then again he has only been there a week or so. He never did go out and run like I told him too, he is such a typical teenager(Boy). He found out he had partial color blindness and was disqualified from the Nuke Program. He… Continue

Dale, I wanted to take this moment and thank you for your service to this great country. The sacrifices that you made have not gone unnoticed on this upcoming Veterans Day. It is because of you and others like you that we enjoy the freedoms that we have. I salute you!

Welcome Dale and keep the faith! It's tough when they leave for Great Lakes and not knowing how they're doing. I've gone through this twice and those few letters were always a mixed bag of emotions- but I knew that the Navy was pretty experienced in turning our children into Sailors. When you travel to great Lakes for his PIR you'll be amazed at the change you'll see.....he might have left as a teenager, but he'll come out a Sailor!

When you do get a chance to talk with your son, please convey my thanks for his service. And thank you for your service as well!

Dale, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad you joined us. Take some time and look around the site. Get involved with some of the discussions and join some of the groups or start one of your own. We love to talk about our sailors. We are here to support and encourage each other. Ask question answer questions. This is your site to use and enjoy. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force over 4 years ago and my oldest joined the Navy and is now home from “A” school heading for the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Dale for his service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. I would like to thank you for your service as well.

Dale, As a grandmother seeing my grandson walk away from me was one of the hardest things I have done, He has gratuated from Great Lake and completed A School in Pennsacola, has been home for 9 days and I know he will leave in the next few days. It has been great to see him, and wish he was with us all the time like he used to be, but, it takes a special person to do what our children have done and we are very proud and pray God takes care of them, our Love and Pride goes with them. Stay strong and together on this site we can. My prayers are with you, your family and Dale.

Dale thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your Son for his service for me and yours as well. Good luck and thanks again for joining. EG
