What is or will be your sailor's rate (job classification) - ex. ABE, AM, GM, etc
Nuclear Power
Describe a little about yourself:
I am a retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer
(ETCS SW/AW) that cross rated into the Nulear Power Field from an Aviation Electronics Technician, then retired after 20 years. I am from the midwest and have come home to retire. I work for a utility company.
Prior Military Experience
Proud Navy Veteran
What brought you to this site:
my son is recently enlisted, I am a sailor
What were your feelings when your Sailor joined the Navy:
It is hard to describe since I went down this same path but worry, and the loss of seeing him around the house is missed. I went over with him everything I could on all sides of the military and he kept true to joining and following the path I had taken in 1981. I guess proud would be an understatement also.
What is your relationship with your sailor

Chief, I wanted to take this moment and thank you for your service to this great country. The sacrifices that you made have not gone unnoticed on this upcoming Veterans Day. It is because of you and others like you that we enjoy the freedoms that we have. I salute you!

Don, I am glad that you have joined us. I see that you have joined a group and joined in on a couple of discussion. I like that, jumping in and getting involved. This is your site to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little too. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force over 4 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is in Everett WA. stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Jason for his service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for your service to this great country as well. Thank you for raising a fine young man.

Don, Welcome Aboard!. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your son for his service for me and yours as wellthanks again for joining. Sincerely, E

Welcome to NavyDads Don! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is almost two months into a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat just returned from her seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Don this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Jason is doing!

Be sure to spend some time in the Bootcamp group- there are many questions and answers available to help you understand what your sailor is going through. And as PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailors PIR more enjoyable.

And Don- thank you for your service and helping keep America safe and free. It is only through the sacrifice of great Americans such as yourself and Jason that we have the freedom that we all cherish. Best Regards- Paul
