Hey Tami, welcome!  What part of MI are you in?  That is our home and all of our family still lives there but we live in the south now by choice.  We spent a few years in N. California as well.  My hubby is former Navy so we've lived a few places but now our son has been in the Navy for 3 years and is stationed in Hawaii.

What is Tyler going to be doing after boot camp?  I hope you will be going to his PIR (graduation) it is fabulous.  Please let me know if you have any questions and welcome.

Tami, Welcome Aboard!

When my son first enlisted in the Navy I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to his future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. We have many moms on the site and benefit greatly from their point of views and we are willing to help the moms in any way we can. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Tyler for his service for me and thanks again for joining us.

Sincerely, E.G.

Welcome aboard to Navy Dads Tami! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun, useful, and educational as I have. Take some time to explore the site and make some new friends. There are many different groups and lots of discussions. Read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I certainly have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out.

I have one sailor in the family - my son Stephen is an AWO. (Air warfare systems operator) He flies in the P-3 Orion and is assigned to VP-45 in Jacksonville, FL. This is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Tyler is doing!

My oldest son lives in Michigan too. He’s in Traverse City. I live in Northern Indiana and am only 4 hours away from him. So you must be close?

We do ask that you remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors in mind at all times. On the starboard side of every Navy Dads page is an area we call “About This Site.” Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link and the NavyDads Guidelines link. Also be sure to stop by the Navy Dads official store- Navyoutfitters.com. Show your support for NavyDads by wearing the latest in NavyDads attire. Also be sure to check out the “How to Tutorial” on the right of the page. It’s a short video that will help you to navigate around the site. Again, welcome and we’ll see you around the fleet! GO NAVY! HOOYAH!

Best Regards- Jim

Welcome to NavyDads.com Tami! I'm sure you'll find NavyDads as useful, educational and informative as I have. Please explore the site and make some new friends. Read the discussions and add your comments. Browse through the postings in the various groups or start a new one. I certainly have! If you have any comments, questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the direction to find out. I'm blessed to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) is stationed on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) just completed her enlistment on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Tami this is a great place to brag as well! So join in, get active, and be sure to let us know how Tyler is doing! Please remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors and the fleet in mind. On the right or starboard side of every NavyDads page is an area we call About This Site. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link for some guidelines as to what we should and should not talk about in a public forum.

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your son is going through. In the Navy Bootcamp group is a discussion called A MUST READ for all New Navy Parents. Read through this post as it will do a lot to give you some understanding about what your sailor is learning and why. And be sure to check out the videos available in the Bootcamp Group as well.

As PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable. Best Regards- Paul
