Got word the other day that our sailor, Suzanne, was promoted to AT3.  BZ!  On top of that she has tickets to fly home for a visit in mid-January.  It will be about 22 months since we saw her last.

Thank you everyone for the arm welcome.

Yes I am a member of the Navy4Moms site, I was looking for an avenue for my husband to be able to share and enjoy the way I do. He has finally seen for himself how wonderful it is when we all went to the Texas Ranger game yesterday with a lot of Texas navy moms and dads. We re 7 years into the navy experence as parents. My son and daughter actually crossed paths for 2 weeks in Norfolk when he was getting ready to discharge and she was boarding the GW. She is a DCFN who just passed the PO3 exam. We are very proud of her.

One Woman in Today’s Navy:

A Sailor’s Personal Account

By DCFN Ashley Marie XXXXXXXXXX

Remembering that some women might have a different opinion, due to how long they themselves have been in, where as I have been in only a little over a year. To me it seems, because I am a woman in a man’s job (engineer/damage controller) we have to mold ourselves as much as the men of the navy do. There is the obvious, that most women can not physically compete with most men… Continue

Carol, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you have joined us. Check out some of the groups and some of the discussions that are going on. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force 5 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Ashley for her service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young woman.

Welcome to NavyDads Carol! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what she is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Carol this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Ashley is doing! Best Regards- Paul

Carol, Welcome Aboard! I'm so glad to have the Navy Moms on here to keep us men in line. I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. We have many moms on the site and benefit greatly from their point of views and we are willing to help the moms in any way we can. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your daughters journey in the Navy. Thank Ashley for her service for me and thanks again for joining us.
Sincerely,EG
