Jim O'Reilly said… - Hi, susan I wish I was in Lassen county right now, until I leaveI for Great Lakes, love the beauty of this part of CA. My daughter Ashley will be PIR October 16th 2009. I am soooo proud. Can't wait too see her, as she transitions to a Sailor.

We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force 5 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Justin for his service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young man.

I am currently reading a book about the Franklin and the USS Santa Fe and would recommend it highly if you are interested in learning more about the amazing story of the ship and what they endured: it is called LUCKY LADY and is written by Steve Jackson and published by Carroll and Graf. I picked it up at Borders and is a very interesting read for sure!

- Welcome to NavyDads Susan ! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Susan this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Justin is doing! Best Regards- Paul

My son is an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca. and my family and I couldn't be prouder of him. When he first enlisted I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. We have many moms on the site and benefit greatly from their point of views and we are willing to help the moms in any way we can. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Chat on Navy Dads
The chat feature on Navy Dads has changed a little. To enter into the chat room click on were it says Navy Dads (44 members online) then type your post in the box and hit enter to make the post show up. When you are done click the the arrow by the person icon and the chat box will be hidden again. The chat feature can also be found on the main page. Just scroll down till you see it. The chat will also make a two note sound when someone posts a comment so you know when the chat is active.…
