Re "greenside" service. Somebody noted a year or so ago that the navy seems to have a plan for all Corpsmen eventually to do FMTB, even those who choose "blueside" just to give the Navy assignment flexibility.  As to…

Daniel Melia replied to Randall Kendall's discussion 'Do you ask questions ??? or follow FMTB school' in the group Navy Corpsman
I'm getting into this pretty late.  My son (now HM3 & an Iraq vet with the 2nd Batt. 1st Marine regiment) went through FMTB about 4 years ago.  I believe that the Navy is now sending most HNs to FMTB, but for those who go…

Gudfinna, I got to my son's boot camp graduation, but not A school.  In these days of smart phones & Flip video cams, maybe one of the parents who is able to attend can take a video & email it to you (or post it on Navy Dads!)

For what it is worth, my son, although he has enjoyed the (greenside) Navy & prospered there, has decided not to re-enlist (in Oct.), but to stay in New Orleans and finish his BA at Tulane.  In my view, his time as a Corpsman has really…

David, When my son was in the desert in Iraq, we used the Marines' "Motomail" for letters, and facebook for everyday short communication (including pictures). I imagine that there are good computer hookups in Italy, so facebook should…

Pat, exciting time for your daughter. My only suggestion is that you get in touch with the folks at the regular unit she is deployed with(Navy/Marines/AF/Army) who probably will have a website with contact info and the like. They probably will not…

Daniel, thanks for the kind comments, words of encouragement & the 'friend invite'. (Still getting used to how all that works on a website such as this, not sure exactly what happens on the website when one accepts someone as a friend ?) Update-wise, we received word through my sons' wife that he has arrived at his base in Iraq (will leave out the location as I am just cautious about all the info unintentially given out on this site). He was able to make a call to her shortly after his arrival. So now we are working on some care packages and letters to him. We know he will have great opportunity to learn much and we look forward to the day he can make the return trip home and tell us about some of his 'adventures'. His wife will arrive from CA here in N./Central Idaho in a few days, she will be living with us most of time while he is deployed. We really love her so we are looking forward to having the time with her, and of course it makes for even better communication with Thomas. The next time she or we get a phone call from him we will ask if he knows your son. Thanks again, Ron

Daniel, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad you found us. We love to talk about and show off our sailors. We are also here to support and encourage each other. I see that you have joined a group you will find help and support with these folks. Get involved with some of the discussions, ask questions and answer questions we are all in this together. This site is yours to use and enjoy. I have two sons and both are in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force over 4 years ago and my oldest joined the Navy and has just finished “A” school. please thank Daniel for his serves to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet.

Daniel thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads wouldn't feel guilty interacting in a woman's world. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your Son for his service for me. Good luck and thanks again for joining. EG
