We also stayed at the COurtyard Marriott. Prices were reasonable with nice rooms and very close to Base and good places to eat. The day of PIR they provided a shuttle to the base so you did not have to worry about parking. This was great since my…

There have been so many questions and answers about PIR that we need one place to be a clearinghouse to help experience a PIR.

Got some great news from my son today. He had just received a text from his LPO that he was chosen as Junior Sailor of the year for his unit.

They do get credit for working with thier recruiter. My son was able to stretch his leave to 2 weeks. Didn't really do much went in for a few hours to talk.

Congratulations to your son, hope the weather is nice there. Going to Ballston is a good thing now due to the fact one of the training subs in Charleston is currently in Dry Dock and the other has had to power down due to a maintenance issue. My son…

A belated welcome to NavyDads John! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is almost two months into a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat just returned from her seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And John this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Christopher is doing! Best Regards- Paul

Hello John, Thanks for joining the "Nukes" You should be very proud of your son. My son TJ is a Nuke on the USS Columbus based out of Hawaii. He joined the Navy right out of high school and now has 3 years in at the age of 21. He went in as a boy, but now is a very great man. I always told him " If it was easy, everyone would be a Nuclear engineer". Best wishes to your whole family and thank you for making the USA stronger.
Thank you, John

John, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you are here with us. Feel free to check out the site, join some groups and maybe start one of your own. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We are here to support and help each other; we are all in this together. Don’t hastate to ask or answer questions. Nuke Training, that was down here in Orlando, Fl. I pray he is doing well. I have two boys and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force over 4 years ago and my oldest joined the Navy and is finishing “A” school. Please thank Christopher for His service from an old Vietnam Vet.

John thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads wouldn't feel guilty interacting in a woman's world. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Good luck and thanks again for joining. EG
